Windows 10: Upgrade windows 8.1 pro with media center to windows 10 issue using Media creation tool. Error

Hello Team,


Please note that I am trying to upgrade a machine having windows 8.1 pro with Media Centre Operating system to windows 10 operating system using media creation tool.

When the media creation tool check the laptop to be upgraded the following meesaage is received.

"You can't install windows on a USB Flash Drive using setup"

The following propsed solution did not work.

Help save Windows Media Center

They already do. Windows Media Center on Window 8.1 costs either $10 or $100 depending on version of Windows. Windows 7 was the last to get it free.

nb: It may be to do with your zip code and or post code not being entered

In regard to your DVD Rom drive - go to -control panel/device manager/DVD/CD-ROM drives -make a note of the make and model number Example: Pioneer DVD-RW DVR-215D ATA Device - highlight the device you have installed -press right mouse button-select properties-details-property and select Install Date from the drop down list and let us know this.

Windows 10 Media Creation Tool


I got bored waiting for my 10 Pro upgrade message so I am using the Windows 10 Media Creation Tool to play around with installing Windows 10 Pro.

I chose the Upgrade Now option instead of creating media.

There were lots of different windows up till now.
So I started screenshots now.

This seems to imply that installed programs will be lost-

If I lose installed programs I will use my Macrium image to revert to 8.1 Pro.
Be back after installing 10 or reverting.
