Windows 10: Upgrade Windows Server Essentials 2016 to 2022

Discus and support Upgrade Windows Server Essentials 2016 to 2022 in Windows 10 Gaming to solve the problem; I haven't done this in a while.     Upgrade Windows Server Essentials 2016 to 2022


    I haven't done this in a while. I have a client who is moving from Windows Server 2016 Essentials to the newest version Windows Server 2022 Essentials. What steps should I follow in performing this migration? Thanks.

    Hi Trex450Pro,

    The information on:

    Overview of Windows Server upgrades

    Shows that it is supposed to be possible to upgrade Server 2016 to Server 2022

    So why is it not giving the option to 'keep files, settings and apps'?

    Windows Server 2016 Essentials upgrade to Windows Server 2016 Standard

    I had an OEM version of Windows Server 2016 Essentials installed.

    I wanted to use Remote Desktop for 3 users, which essentials cant do.

    I have installed an evaualtion of Windows Server 2016 Standard, and have got 3 users remote connecting to the server to run an accounting application.

    Thats fine, i have purchased 3 cals for Windows Remote Desktop Services.

    My question.

    Can i upgrade from 2016 Essentials (which i bought) to Windows Server 2016 Standard, or do i have to buy a new Server 2016 license?

    I am trying to upgrade Windows Server 2016 to Windows Server 2022 and wish to keep files, settings and apps.

    This option is 'greyed out', leaving only 'Nothing' as the available option.

    Please can you advise on how to overcome this problem?
