    Hi,
I have just upgraded my Asus A53Z to Win 10. most things have gone ok, with he exception of the Matshita DVD-Ram UJ8BO disc drive. It is no longer operational, cannot find it in the device manager or anywhere else, tried the following fixes form Microsoft https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/314060 but to to No avail.
    Any help or advice appreciated

  2. Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8C0 CD DVD Drive Burner Writer not burning

I am currently using an Asus K55N laptop running Windows 10 and with a Matshita DVD-RAM UJ8C0 CD DVD (SATA) Drive Burner Writer. The drive reads and recognises CD/DVDs but will not write to any of these media. The outcome remains unchanged irrespective
of attempt with another brand media. This problem existed prior my recent upgrade from Windows 8.

I am seeking a resolution to this issue.

Toshiba L50 Win 8 and 2 Asus laptops Win 8/7 dont have dvd drivers post windows 10 install....

For the Toshiba there is the following FAQ from Toshiba which also applies to Windows 10 upgrade:
CD/DVD Drive does not work after upgrading to Windows 8

Try uninstalling the two programs (TOSHIBA Recovery Media Creator, TOSHIBA Disc Creator) if they are installed.

Be sure to restart the computer afterward.

For the Asus laptops are the DVD drives showing up in the Device Manager at all? Are the DVD drives showing up as an "Other device"?

What Asus models are the laptops?

One more place to look, the BIOS.

    Hi,
Unfortunately the plot the plot thickens. I cannot get into the BIOS, I have tried through setting advanced option, but it does not give me UEFI option, nor can I get into the bios using the DEL key at start up

  6. I ran into a similar problem with my Toshiba Satellite L505B DVD device which ran fine on Win 7. When I did the Win7 to Win10 upgrade the physical Matshita DVD-RAM UJ880ES Device was flagged as code 19 incomplete or damaged and would not work. I was ready to throw the laptop out as I primarily use it to watch DVDs on trips and for email. I tried to replace the drive with a new HP DVD player that I purchased but Win10 though it was still the old drive it called TSSTcorp DDDVDW SN-208FB. As a last ditch effort I did a clean install of Win10 and the old drive was recognized by Win10 and runs fine and is still called TSSTcorp DDDVDW SN-208FB . Believe the issue was a conflict between Toshiba’s DVD-RAM software that was dragged along with the Win10 upgrade and Win10 device management. If all else fails try a clean install. Hope this helps!
By the way, my Toshiba uses the F2 key when turned on to get into the Setup Utility.

Check if currently using UEFI or Legacy BIOS. Press Win + R and type in -> msinfo32 <- hit Enter. On System Summary, look at the BIOS Mode status.

From ASUS FAQ: How to enter the BIOS configuration of my Notebook?

To clean install, you have to select the installation disk to be the first boot device but right now, you can't even get into BIOS.

Try this too: Windows 10 - How to enter BIOS configuration?

It's about Fast Startup and Hibernation thingy.

Would it be of any benefit to go back to windows 7 and reset the boot sequence to a flash drive, or could the sequence be lost during the upgrade ?
Could I access the internal battery remove?replace it and reset the bios ?
Kindof clutching at straws I suppose
Last resort Throw it in the garbage

Yes if you find it more convenience. BIOS will scan on every attached devices during POST, the sequence will be lost if the target device has been detached.

For laptops, it's a little hard to reach the battery.

No no... please, nothing wrong with your laptop, it's the OS screwing it.

  15. Try a clean install of Win10. You have nothing to lose except the effort.
