Upgraded from Windows 8 - elantech touchpad not even in Device Manager

    Hi,

same problems with my old Fujitsu Notebook (Amilo Pi 2550). I tested a lot of different Synaptics drivers but not functional touchpad in Win 10. However, Win 7 an Vista the touchpad worked fine. For unknown reasons Win 10 directly installed a Synaptics driver. I unchecked the driver update function in Win 10 and deinstalled the driver completeley.

Still not working. To my supprise by installing Win10 starting with a DVD the touchpad works fine untill the installation is finished. Than also the touchpad is finished. I also belive this not a touchpad driver problem.

My hardware ID from the touchpad is

    ACPI\VEN_SYN&DEV_0804
    ACPI\SYN0804
    *SYN0804

I googled it an foud only crap.

    Any ideas?

I desperately need help too. Upgraded to Win 10 the other day and ever since, the Synaptics Touchpad isn't working on my HP Stream 11 laptop. It's like Windows doesn't recognise or is blocking it somehow - I've installed the driver dozens of times, it will not appear in Device Manager. There is no "tab" in Advanced mouse properties. No Fkey combo magically switches it on. I've downloaded all the latest chipsets and every single driver I can find off the HP website. I've tried installing an old Win8 Synaptics driver in compatibility mode. NOTHING. If I run HP's recovery test mode-thing upon boot, the TOUCHPAD DOES WORK! So how on earth do I get Win10 to 'see' it?!

Also, the BIOS doesn't have any advanced options like the previous 2 posts - it's extremely basic and only let you tweak things like boot order...

    Please help!

  3. Thank you, this worked to solve my issue with the Aspire ES1-512 touch pad that had stopped working when I needed to reinstall Windows with 8.1.

Note to above poster: Updated to latest bios available as of today and the option for Touchpad: Advanced/Basic is there.

Maybe you also need to install the Quick Launcher (or whatever is called) to make the FN combinations work. Also enter BIOS and check anything relevant to the touchpad. Once you manage to switch it on, it should be automatically detected and installed by Windows. You can then install the manufacturer's touchpad driver to enable all features. To see what is your unknown device, use Aida64, go to Devices -> Windows devices and click on the unknown device. You should see the model at the bottom, or at least the vendor ID and product ID. No need to register, the free version should be OK.

  5. I made an account just to say THANKYOU, because I spent a couple of hours searching myself before finally consulting Google ... and Google pointed me to you. And you provided the info that released me from this damn laptop.

So thanks man, sharing is caring!!

    the answer I found for acer was as follow's;
go to acer download drivers and manuals, put your SNID number in top box, things will show up in box below.
next go to operating system(not win 10),click win 8.1,download IO drivers intel Serial IO 603,install and away you go,

I had the same problem with the acer ES1-411.

I got the mouse back by 1st going into the BIOS and changing the touchpad from advanced to basic.
then when I got back into windows then had to use the fn F7.

The fn+F7 didn't work when the pad was set to advanced.

    hope this helps others
