Windows 10: Upgraded MOBO, Was Working Fine Last Night

So I just upgraded my motherboard and CPU and everything was working and running perfectly fine last night. All my programs and files are still where they need to be. This morning I boot up and I have a watermark on my desktop... "Activate Windows. Go to Settings to activate Windows." I go to settings and it says it can't be done. I click the "Troubleshoot" and after loading I click "I changed hardware on this device recently". Then it says to make sure I'm signed in with my same Microsoft account, which I am, because it can't find any devices. I click the "See other devices linked" and I

Changing my MOBO and CPU a

I'm doing PC upgrades and changes entirely for my new mini-itx build.

I'm not sure about how the process would work, but what are the appropriate steps I need to undertake before making my changes?

• My personal data and files are backed up to my Onedrive, and have nothing to lose in terms of data.
• I have an additional copy of Windows 10 (but would prefer not to use it in-case I do another PC build).
• My MOBO and CPU upgrades are polar opposites of my current hardware:
  • OLD HARDWARE
    • Intel i5 6500
    • AsRock Killer MOBO
  • New Hardware
    
  • • AMD Ryzen 7 2700x
    • Asus Strix X-470

This is my first time doing a particular change so guiding steps would be greatly appreciated! Things like how to wipe my hard-drive and reinstall Windows, etc.

You will have to buy windows license if you change the motherboard, unless you made the computer originally in the first place, or bought a license key.

Sinzia, thank you for the 411! however it did not work. I pulled the top off of the case as you suggested and everything is fine.
I know that my mobo is receiving power because the "standby" light is on. I have the SATA wire also running into the mobo as well. Is there a step that I am missing? I have spent several hours on this trying to figure it out. It will probably be something that was right in my face the whole time that I was missing-lol
