Windows 10: Upgraded storage but my PC still says low storage and tries to force me to upload. Why...

Upgraded storage via Microsoft app on my iphone, but my PC still says low storage and tries to force me to upload. Why won't it sync? I use M365 basic online and online it recognized the storage upgrade but still will not let me add a one note notebook. The support emails have been no help.

Low storage on

I'm running Windows 10 I'm being notified that my Local disk D drive is low on storage (450MB. 412MB used). I open settings and check storage, it is saying the "other" is about full. When I click on "other", it says "we could not find any files to show
you". When I try to do a clean up it says there are 0 bytes in recycle bin and 0 bytes in DirectX Shadow cache. I have not tried a "System Restore and Shadow Copies", not positive what that does. I have 181GB free.

My wife upgraded from an HTC One M8 (Windows Phone 8.1) to a Lumia 950 and also had a "low storage" warning. After checking out her Lumia 950, I discovered it was automatically installing apps from her prior phone to the main phone memory. When she originally
installed an SD card into the Lumia 950, she selected the option to install apps onto the card. But, her phone ignored that option and installed it on the main memory anyway. The solution is to go to settings and type "storage" - you will go to an area which
shows all your apps. By pressing an app on the list, you can choose between moving or uninstalling the app - choose move and send it to the SD card. It was a LONG process for my wife, but she eventually moved the bulk of her apps to the SD card and the "low
storage" warning went away. Her phone was also able to update after that. Hope this helps!
