Windows 10: Upgraded to 1909, via enablement package, now Explorer's instant search is gone.

I upgraded via enablement package, now the instant search is gone from File explorer, not only do you have to hit enter to get results, I had to turn off indexing in certain folders because the new drop down function is more annoying than helpful since I have hundreds of files.


I'd got back to 1903 if it wasn't for the fact that I'd be forced into installing 1909 anyway. But if I can avoid that, should I do it by system restore or by uninstalling the update? Which ever one is less likely to render the drivers unusable? Is there any way you guys can restore the old search systems?


Edit: I heard of a workaround via the regsitry, but that also disables UAC

No Instant Search Result in File Explorer

When searching in file explore search results are displayed right below the search bar in a list, but only when you hit Enter, the complete result is displayed.

How do i restore it so i have Instant Search Results.

If you have upgraded from 1903, just uninstall the 1909 enablement package (listed as a Windows update) to go back to 1903.

You have Pro so can take control by setting upgrades to be deferred for 365 days, and updates to 'Notify' in group policy.

Only by going back to 1903. Fortunately, if you upgraded to 1909 from 1903, this is simple. Just uninstall the Enablement Package KB4517245 in 'Windows Update > View update history > Uninstall updates'. If you clean-installed 1909 the Enablement Package cannot be uninstalled.
