Windows 10: Upgraded to Win 10 AU and now I cant do a clean reset/install

Hey all, resently I upgraded to Windows 10 Anniversary Update and I figured I should do a clean install along with it. Not because there is any issue or what ever but I feel like I need a fresh windows 10.

When I initiate the reset part and it reboots, at some point during the procentage process it stops and says the Reset has stopped and couldnt be performed. I read around the internet and they suggest you download the Windows 10 ISO file and run a repair so I downloaded it using the Media Creation Tool and put it on an USB drive, but it fails to launch the Repair too. Not sure why this happens and what to do about it at this point, any ideas?

Reset my Windows 10 PC went back to Windows 8.1

I have this same problem. I upgraded some time ago to Win 10. Recently used 'reset this PC' clean install and it reset to Win 8.1. Now my problem is not 'performing a clean instal using Reset this PC in Win 10' - but how to make this (now) Win 8.1 machine
retrieve its upgrade to Win 10.

I read that post, the problem is I did a clean install of win 10 before upgrading from win 8 properly. However now I cant find a way to go back to windows 8 to do the upgrade.

 

Reinstall from scrarch by creating a bootable usb flashdrive. You have the iso so burn it using rufus or similar.

Boot from usb, slect custom install, delete all partitions, and install skipping key entry.

 

Yea I might do that, do I need rufus because when the media creation tool made the USB thing in the program itself and it boots with it too.

Funny thing is, the reset worked if I choose to keep my files, deleting everything and starting fresh is what didnt work, even after I did the reset to keep my files, weird things.

 

You do not need to use rufus if you created the usb from mct.

Re. reset - it is just flakey sometimes.
