  1. Upgrading from 1709 Migration Issues

    Greetings!

I have been tasked with upgrading my Org from Windows 10 1709 to 1903 and have been running into some issues.

When upgrading a machine from 1709 to any newer build 1803,1809,1903,1909 I get a huge 600MB+ setupact.log file and a setuperr.log file full of issues seemingly regarding Migration of user profiles or Windows features.

    • Attempted solutions Unsuccessful:

Fresh Install of 1709 Ent ISO image, apply all updates, upgrade to 1903 via ISO on flash drive. Off Domain, all Microsoft updates

Disjoin machine from domain before update

Ensure all drivers and BIOS are up to date

Use SFC and DISM repair commands

Attempted the above tests on multiple makes and models of devices

    • SetupErr.log Contents from fresh install machine:

The "MIG Plugin" Errors at the bottom multiply based upon how many user profiles are on the machine.

    • Notes:

We will be pushing the upgrade out via SCCM Task Sequence, but I will set that fact aside for a moment as the issue occurs even when upgrading with Windows Media tool.

I do realize 1909 it the current standard, but we will be migrating to it at a later date. 1903 is the current tested solution.

    :)

That's what the auto setting will do since you're over the 1333 mark it jumps to the next step which isn't listed or officially supported I assume by that ram.

At this point though I would suggest dropping the multi one step or .5 so that we can get something stable and possibly take the heat issue out of the picture for now.
