  1. Upgrading From 8.1, Keeping License Intact

Hello all, thanks for being here. I'm going to be helping someone soon upgrade both the hardware and the OS in her Windows 8.1 computer. I'd like to verify my planned steps and see if anyone would like to offer suggestions for improvement. Hardware: Max RAM her M/B will support 1TB Samsung EVO SSD OS: Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 Her current OS is a downgrade. After I bumped her up to the free Windows 10 upgrade remember that one, oh so long ago?, she asked me to revert to Windows 8.1. At the time she wanted to keep what she was familiar with. Her hardware configuration hasn't changed si

Windows 8 Pro Retail => Windows 10 Pro (Free upgrade) Fails Activation after hardware change

    Hi,

I bought 2 retail licenses (one for my desktop and one for my laptop) for Windows 8 several years ago and upgraded to Windows 10 (via the free upgrade). Recently I had to change some hardware (motherboard) and I get the following error code when trying to
    activate Windows: 0xC004C003.

I have tried the following, all of which have failed.

    1. Troubeshoot -> I recently changed hardware on this device (I can only see my Laptop License and not my desktop)
    2. Provided the Installation ID (via phone helpdesk) on two occasions.
First help desk technician suggested I buy a new Windows License and the second suggested I reinstall and use Windows 8. Both suggestions from help desk are ridiculous.

How do I proceed without having to:

    1. Pay for a license I should technically already have
    2. Downgrade back to Windows 8 (loose time / data)

  3. How to swap license keys ? PC_A is OEM Windows 8 upgraded to 10 Home; PC_B has Windows 10 Professional purchased

How to swap license keys between two computers?

    Configuration

    1. Computer A was OEM Windows 8 Home free upgraded to Windows 10 Home
    2. Computer B has Windows 10 Professional purchased.
    My understanding is there's no problem transferring purchased Windows license key on another computer;

Can I use another computer's OEM Windows 8 license ( upgraded to Windows 10) for computer B ?

    Thanks Ahead!
