Windows 10: Upgrading from i5-7500 to i7-7700

Discus and support Upgrading from i5-7500 to i7-7700 in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; I have an ASUS Prime Z270M-Plus motherboard with an Intel i5-7500 Processor and 16GB DDR-4 RAM, I would like to upgrade to an Intel i7700 Processor....     Upgrading from i5-7500 to i7-7700


    I have an ASUS Prime Z270M-Plus motherboard with an Intel i5-7500 Processor and 16GB DDR-4 RAM, I would like to upgrade to an Intel i7700 Processor. Will there be any necessity to rebuild my hard drive or will the system automatically adjust for the new CPU in the same way it does for additional memory?

    Hi,

    I5 supports 4 threads actually but the I7 suggested here is from an older generation.
    An I7 such as an I6700K combined with a decent socket 1151 board should outperform a 4790K hands down in several areas.

    I.v just returned i7 7700 because of high temperature and voltage. Using i5 7500 which behaves much cooler , thank you.

    Yes, the i5 6600k is newer, and if you look at this comparison, that's about it's only benefit. For gaming, I'd go with the I7 4790K.
