  1. Upgrading from W7 Pro - Errors and Questions

I downloaded the media tool to upgrade from Windows 7 Pro to Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunately the upgrade fails on the first boot after reaching 71% and reverts back to W7. I receive the message "The installation failed in the FIRST_BOOT phase with an error during MIGRATE_DATA operation" and the error code 0x800707E7 - 0x3000D.

I have tried disabling antivirus and unplugging all USB devices besides the keyboard and mouse. Each upgrade attempt fails at the same point and gives the same error.

I am considering a clean install but first I wanted to know:

    • Can anybody assist with the above error? I'd prefer a straight upgrade and to keep my files if possible.
    • If I use the media tool to upgrade and select "keep nothing", will this likely be as effective as a clean install? If the install fails with "keep nothing" selected, am I at risk of losing my data once it reverts back to W7?
    • If I create an installation media and do a clean install from boot, what are the chances that my W7 Pro OEM product key will work in activating W10? This is my main worry and why I want to use the media tool to upgrade. I don't want to find I can't activate W10, then not have the option to revert to W7 with my data intact.

Thanks in advance for any help.

I had W7 Pro that worked excellent. Upgraded to W10 and had no internet (hardwired to router). Tried everything. Went back to W7 pro and no longer had internet (hardwired to router). Again tried all the suggested solutions. Received error messages

    1. does not have valid IP configuration

    2. connection failed with error 651

    W7-W10 Pro x64 Upgrade error

I have tried several attempts before, and now once more with no virus protection. It starts with this screen:

It runs and restarts at about 25% and 75%, and I get the following.

I've tried with new media using a iso file on a USB drive. There is no DVD drive.
to do this I go to the boot screen and select EUFI boot (Note there is no sequence). The legacy boot doesn't work.

After putting in the cert number I get this.

I don't understand these instructions, but when I take out the USB and reboot, I get this error.

    W7-W10 Pro x64 Upgrade error

Sorry for being unclear. I currently have an installed copy of W7. I want to upgrade to W10. I've upgraded the drivers and the BIOS to the latest version dell has for this model. I've used the W10 creation tool to download the .iso. I've used Rufus to put the creation tool onto the USB. I boot using Legacy mode in the BIOS, because the UEFI gives me an error when I boot in W7. I then plug in the USB and select startup on the USB. I get this screen.

It goes along and reboots at 24% and 75 % then comes back with an error telling me it had trouble completing and generates the following screen.

Then this is the error message before continuing to restore W7

Is there a way to do a factory reset? Maybe that would clear things up.
