Upgrading From Win7 Enterprise to Win10

I'm trying to beat the MSoft clock that runs out on 7/29 for the free upgrade to Win10. Wouldn't you know it, of all the hiccups I would get is the error saying "Can't update from Win 7 Server, or Enterprise to Win10. See Admin." Well, I AM THE ADMIN!! AAARRGGHH!! So, what's the quickest way to get around this conundrum? I DON'T have 7 days.

  2. Windows 10 Home fresh install blue screens, Windows program failure and 3rd party program crashes.

To your latest reply, please read my previous response to your earlier reply if you didn't.

So you're saying it might have something to specifically with Win10 Home?

Just so that we are not talking about two different things here, when my computer worked, I had upgraded from Win7 Enterprise to Win10pro. The USB boot drive from which I installed Win7 Enterprise contained Windows 7 and not Windows 10. The upgrade to Win10
was done with Win7 still installed, which it replaced. It wasn't a clean boot from another USB or DVD containing Win10 install files. I never upgraded or downgraded after I had upgraded and installed Win10 from Win7.

Or are you saying that Win7 enterprise should have automatically updated my OS to Win10 Enterprise and not Win10 Pro? I made no changes to my computer regarding the OS after I had upgraded from Win7 Enterprise.

Win10 activation using Win7 Product Key upgrading product version variant also

    Dear community,

I recently purchased an HP laptop running Windows 10 Home (pre-installed).

At this point I have an activated Win10 OS running. An upgrade from Win10 Home to Pro or above comes of course with an upgrade fee.

Now, I have read that since November Microsoft supports the use of Win7/8 Product Keys in order to activate Win10.

I have purchased in the past an original copy (physical/boxed DVD) of Win7 Enterprise. Not upgrade but new install copy which of course comes with its own license.

My question is if I can use my Win7 Enterprise Product Key to activate my new laptop's Win10 Home with intentions to upgrade Win10 to Enterprise Edition free of charge considering that if I had a fresh installation of Win7 Enterprise the upgrade to Win10 would
have taken place at the same version variant level i.e. the Win10 Enterprise Edition.

Thanks a lot for any responses.

Wasn't exactly my question, although, I understand what you're saying. So, my only option is to wipe the disk clean, and buy Win10? OR... OR...if I already have a LEGAL version of Win10 for my laptop, is it "kosher" to load that on this Enterprise Desktop for free. Even if I have to wipe Enterprise 7 clean, and start with my legal version of Win10, will my Win10 license allow that?

    Thanks

It's my understanding that Enterprise Upgrades have to go through the IT department for the company/organization that owns the Enterprise/Volume licensing for what you have installed.

  9. You can move your Windows 10 install from one PC to another, assuming its a retail edition. You can't run it on both at the same time though, not with that one license. Not according to the EULA. Also there is no free upgrade from Windows 10 to Windows 10. You can upgrade to the anniversary edition from a legally activated Windows 10 install, but that has nothing to do with the free upgrade offer. And as mentioned, Enterprise is excluded from the free upgrade offer. That falls under the software assurance agreement and its up to the IT specialist to do those upgrades.

  11. Most likely a second hand PC sold by a company that went out of business, or were too lazy to remove the Enterprise edition. Enterprise licenses are not allowed to be resold so if it was resold, that Enterprise install is not legal. It's still licensed to the Company that originally owned it.
