Windows 10: Upgrading from windows 8.1 to windows 10 failure

I have been attempting to update from windows 8.1 to windows 10 without success.

Initially ran install and got through download and install went to 100% then bsod with a stopcode.

Did SFC and DISM to clean up corrupted files.



Try to restart download but the update will stop after the "preparing" message gets to 100%.

No error message shows up, the box gets disappears. Blue box log show 0xC0000005 error.


Used the create media tool to create USB version and ISO version on DVD to launch from those

Did RAM check

installed all updates to 8.1

SFC

DISM

Cleared Temp folders

Ran ChkDSK

setup diag

clean boot

unplugged devices

disabled anti virus

and just about every recommended action with no luck. the only thing I haven't done is run windows install troubleshooter as the download link on the Microsoft site goes to a 404 page.


The only thing I can do is wait about 12 - 18 hours and then sometimes I am able to run the installer again, but it is tough to trouble shoot with that kind of lag.

Windows 8 failure configuring updates and reverting

I agree 8 is awful! It's not for me though... I replaced a broken screen in a Win 8 laptop that was given to me and I am going to give it for free to someone that can't afford one so they can do homework at home. Yes I took it from 8 to 8.1 back on 10/09/2014. This is what I posted there...

1. Step 1 should read to disable AUTOMATIC updates, not disable manual updates.

2. KB2871398 should really read KB2871389

I would like to say that KB2917499 may also be needed as it was in my case. I also had to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter after installing those 2 updates. After these steps I was able to begin my 8.1 download from the Microsoft store. I don't know if it made a difference or not, but I also went into the Bios and disabled "Secure Boot."

Windows 10 upgrade problem, no input accepted

I really hate having to come here and ask for help, but I really am stumped. It hurts my geek pride. I have a PC with fairly modern hardware in it. It has a p8p67 pro in it. I have tried upgrading windows 10 on it twice now. Both times I have had the same result.

After windows finishes upgrading it goes to the log in/set up screen. I can't do anything. No keyboard or mouse input is accepted.

I will list some, or hopefully all, of the troubleshooting steps I have tried:

• Move keyboard and mouse to different USB ports.
• Try different keyboard or mouse.
• Restart computer, repeatedly.
• Google for related issues.
• Update Bios, because why not.
• Create boot media and revert to windows 7.

The windows 10 system restore boot media works fine with keyboard and mouse. All USB ports work in windows 7. I don't know what is wrong. I suspect that windows 10 is lacking a driver of some sort, but since the computer accepts no input I have no way of checking for which driver let alone installing it.

Please help me figure this out. If I have to revert back to windows 7 again, I am not going to get it upgraded to windows 10. Thank you in advanced.
