Windows 10: Upgrading Malwarebytes

I run Windows defender and the free version of Malwarebytes with no problems. The paid for upgrade of Malwarebytes is good value for three pc's for 12 months and runs in the background rather than manually. Will they still run together, or will WD be switched off?

My Nokia C3 is not supporting softwares

I have tried so many ways to download softwares, but to my efforts are all fruitless. When i go to other sites to download and install softwares, the place to download the software will not even be active and when i download from ovi store it is not supported.
What should i do to end this problem?

Yes, Windows Defender will still run along with Malwarebytes without any issues. *Smile

 

FYI: Sale of the "up to 3 PCs" subscription license by the Malwarebytes online store was discontinued in Sept 2015.
If you find such a license for sale from another source, it may not be legitimate & the key could be blacklisted.
ANY "lifetime" multi-PC license is 100% fake, as there never was such a license model.

I just went to the malwarebytes website. If you want to buy anti-malware for example, for more than 1 PC, they have a sliding scale of prices. In round numbers, 1 PC is $25/year, but 3 PCs is only $40/year. You also get a discount for a 2 year subscription.

Yes, you are correct about both points.
There is a discount for multiple 1-PC licenses purchased at the same transaction, and for a 2-year license option.

The safest place to buy a software license is from the vendor's own website.
If there's any question about a particular MBAM license offer seen on the internet, it would be advisable to contact Malwarebytes Customer Service HERE before purchase.
If one ends up with a blacklisted license from an unauthorized source, one will be out of luck, unless one can secure a refund from the seller.

Question : Is it necessary to buy a paid version ?

What is the overwhelming, you-can't-do-without, advantage to pay for one ?

I have been for 2 years running Windows Defender and free Malwarebytes.
That's all I have installed. That combination works for me. So, why pay ?

It's always the user's choice how to protect the user's system.

MBAM Free is only a manual, on-demand scanner. It can only remove malware that has already made it onto your system past your realtime defenses, in this case WD.
MBAM Premium (or another realtime anti-malware (AM) application) provides complementary, layered, realtime, proactive protection to help PREVENT infection. MBAM and others like it specialize in certain types of non-viral, zero-hour and zero-day malware often missed by the AVs.
The AVs target certain types of threats, the AMs target others.

Alas, the MBAM marketing folks seem to have removed the previous, helpful, side-by-side comparison of Free vs. Premium from the product webpage. But that is the basic difference: manual scanning after the fact vs. realtime protection.
Both your AV and MBAM (and others like it) target the "what" of malware.
But, as a general rule, PREVENTION is always preferred to CLEANUP after the fact. That is the rationale behind realtime protection.
The cost of a paid license for realtime protection works out to pennies a day per system (or less) and -- IMHO -- is much cheaper than the cost, aggravation and heartache needed to recover from a major malware/ransomware infection, identity theft or similar catastrophe.
And many "free" AVs (not WD) come with a hidden price, such as nag screens/ads, reduced features, reduced support, or heavy marketing to buy the paid version.

Additional layers against the "how" of malware can be provided by anti-exploit applications, such as MBAE (Free or Premium) or others like it. They protect against a major delivery vector of today's malware.
There are other ways to help protect one's system (custom hosts files, surfing via a limited Windows user account, occasional second-opinion scans, maintaining system/data backups, etc.). Others may prefer a different approach altogether, such as using Linux for web browsing (but that is beyond the capability of many, average computer users).

The concept of "layered" protection is not mine and is not new.
Even sophisticated and savvy users can be hit by drive-by exploits on "safe" sites.
Comprehensive, detailed, authoritative articles about home computer user "best practices" may be found at many of the reputable, not-for-profit and well-known computer help fora.

Needless to say, no one security program or suite of programs is perfect.
None will protect 100% of computers 100% of the time from 100% of malware.
And every user will decide what works best for him/her needs, computer and budget.
Regardless, the most critical component of computer defense is the one between the chair and keyboard.

So, as I mentioned, it's not "necessary" to buy Premium for realtime protection.

The best anti-virus, anti-malware, security system is the users themselves.
If one exercises proper discretion, observes net-surfing Dos & Don'ts, there will be little to no problem.
Buying a "Real-time" protection can create false sense of security to users who might in fact become careless.

I have WD as Real-time Protection and free Malwarebytes as On-Demand Protection for over 2 years. That is enough for me.

Each to his own.
Just my personal opinion as a "common" user.

MBAM save my PC from sluggish to a new fresh condition stage. Some people do find MBAM is a fantastic anti malware software that can removal threats where other 3rd party antivirus failed to remove them. That's why they purchase this premium because they just love it. I also purchased it as well, and so far run into zero false positives for 2 years for now.
