Upgrading old Windows computer to Win10

When I thought my ASUS laptop began having problem after problem, I purchased a new Dell laptop on QVC. Then my brother-in-law repaired my ASUS so I stuck with it totally forgetting about the Dell. Crazy, I know. Then a month ago the ASUS finally died, and I dug out the QVC Dell that was now 8 years old. My question is should I upgrade to windows 10 and I heard Microsoft has extended the free upgrade to Win10 to original buyers of older Window computers. How would I go about doing this? Thank you.

    :)

Win10: windows update stuck at never ending loop ?

    When in win10:
    • Update&security -> Windows update -> Finding update... .... .... ....
Planning to download the latest Win10.ISO (vers.1803) and manually update:
    - Then wait that my ordered new SSD arrives and clone the old HDD to it.

Salvage Win10 Home, upgrade to Pro

    Hello Great Group,

I am interested in steps I might take to salvage my Windows 10 Home license from a dead computer's drive, then upgrade to Pro on a new computer. Is this possible? If so, how?

Details: 'Puter hanging issue became fatal, then died, I borked the BIOS, made a mess, building a new machine and plan to harvest as much as possible from the old drives. I have a backup of C: where Win10 lived as well as two identical SSDs (both with Win10 on them), yet do not want to boot from one of the old disks fearing that 1) Windows may be corrupted, or 2) The drive might have some nasties on it.

Upgrading from Home to Pro is about $100? cheaper than just buying Pro. So, I'd like to upgrade from the old license if possible, but I'm not sure what steps to take and in what order in order to accomplish this mission.

Are these the correct steps? (I'm guessing)

    Build the new computer
    Update BIOS if necessary
    Install Win10 Pro without key
    Attach old drive
    Scan old drive with Malwarebytes
Run Belkin Advisor on that drive to reveal key?
    Enter key into Pro?

I've no clue what might happen at this point. Key invalid? Upgrade to Pro somehow?

Thanks in advance for your insight.

Upgrading old Windows computer to Win10

How to upgrade from very old to old Win10 version (not NOT newest)?

Yes, by getting a 1903 ISO from one of the sources zbook suggested, mounting it, then running Setup.exe from the root of the ISO.

The upgrade from 1903 to 1909 is entirely optional, you'd have to click a 'Download and install now' link to start it.
