    Upgrading one Windows OS in a dual boot Windows configuration


    A family member had an old PC running Vista that I dual booted with Windows 10 so they could use Vista as a fallback when they got confused with 10. Now they are comfortable with Windows 10 and rarely use Vista, only reason Vista is kept is because of some files. I know this PC would support Windows 7 and I have a license for 7, I was wondering if I could upgrade the Vista side without affecting the Windows 10 side of things. This is all on one hard drive. Also, if I ever wanted to add Linux to the mix triple boot would that be a problem? The PC is an old HP Pavilion a6710t, 32 bit.

    could someone please list the steps they follow to install windows with a dual core processor and windows xp service pack to. I'm reletively new to amd dual core and i feel i'm missing a step. All help will be appreciated. thanx

    Dual Booting with Windows 8.1


    The procedure below will allow you to boot Windows separately or in dual boot configuration.
    Here's what I recommend to do:
    1. Disconnect the drive containing Windows 8.1
    2. Install Windows 10 with one drive connected.
    3. After step 2, reconnect the drive containing Windows 8.1
    4. Boot up Windows 8.1. Open disk management and take a note of the drive letter of Windows 10 OS.
      NOTE: if you boot up Windows 10, then take a note of Windows 8.1 drive letter
    5. Open Admin command prompt and type: bcdboot X:\windows where X: is the drive letter of Windows 10 (Windows 8.1 if you boot from Windows 10 in step 4)
    6. Reboot the PC. You should have a dual boot screen.

    NOTE: To break off the dual boot setting, Win+R->msconfig->boot and delete the none default entry on the list.

    Dual boot Windows 7 with Vista problem!

    I have windows 7 as my main OS and I am trying to install windows vista on it own partition for a dual boot configuration but when trying to install vista from my pen drive at the very beggining when starting to copying files it stops with this error: [0x0604ad] IBS Callback_CopySetupFiles:An error occurred while copying Setup files. Error code is [0x80070070][gle=0x00000070]

    This stop error only shows up when installing vista from a pen drive! Using the Vista DVD it installs fine!

    SO i wonder what is going on here? Seems installing vista from a pen drive to dual boot with windows 7 is not possible!

    Only from DVD I can install vista for a dual boot configuration all is fine!

    Can someone tell me what is the culprit here any experiences like this?
