Upgrading secondary storage to 8TB or more

    Hello!

If I am correct, Windows 10 64-bit can handle a hard disk up to 16TB, so I should not have any problem installing a new 8TB or 10TB SATA hard disk in my system (see my specs). However, I must be 100% sure before buying. My motherboard is an Asus P8H61 (socket Intel 1155, H61 chipset). Can I install an 8TB or 10TB SATA disk? My Windows boot disk is an SSD. The new disk will be my secondary storage. If I need a single partition I should format the disk as GPT. Anything else to consider?

    Thank you in advance.

    :)

If you intend to make it a GPT disk, it can be as big as you can find... the largest I can find, at this time is...

Upgrading secondary storage to 8TB or more

My main drive is a 480GB SSD. This will replace a 4TB hard disk. The 4TB will replace a full 1TB hard disk. However, I discovered that it is cheaper to buy an external 8TB USB 3.0 instead of an internal SATA! I would use it for backup anyway, so it will be easier to use. Thanks for your help.
