Windows 10: Upgrading to 64 bit windows 10 via memory stick 'This app cant run on your computer' issue.

As the title says, I'm trying the upgrade Windows 10 by installing the 64-bit version. I've run all the system checks and my computer is compatible with the 64-bit version. I downloaded the 64-bit installation tool from Microsoft to a memory stick. When I try to run the install, I get the 'This app can't run on your computer' message. I've tried the numerous workarounds listed on the 'Windows report' website, but no joy. Any ideas on how to fix this issue or why I may be receiving it?

Windows 10 Upgrade 32-bit to 64-bit

So, Windows 10 Upgrade is being rolled out worldwide, and I have 'reserved' my upgrade.

Currently my computer is running Windows 7 Pro 32-bit. I'm planning to 'upgrade' it to Windows 10 64-bit (via fresh install, of course).

After reading many references, these will be the steps I'll do:

1. Let the "Get Windows 10" app upgrade my OS to Windows 10 32-bit
   
2. Note the activation key
   
3. Download the Installation Media for Windows 10, but choosing 64-bit instead
   
4. Perform a clean install
   
5. Reactivate using the activation key in Step #2
   

(Of course I'll backup my data first.)

However, I still have some questions:

1. On Windows 7, the activation key does not differ between 32- or 64-bit versions. Is it still so with Windows 10?
   
2. Will I be able to download a different architecture on Step #3?
   
3. Is there anything I need to prepare beforehand?

Windows 7 64-bit upgrade to Windows 10 64-bit

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. I would like to upgrade to Windows 10, but keep a 64-bit OS. Will the Windows 10 upgrade app provide me with a 64-bit OS or stick me with a 32-bit OS?

 

Performance - 32 Bit Vs 64 Bit

Greetings:

• I am running Windows 10 / 32 bit
• My computer is a 64 bit CPU with 5Gb Memory
• I use mostly MS Office Applications and a bit of photo and video editing.

Question:

1) Will my system operate much faster if I upgrade to Windows 10 / 64 Bit?

I can upgrade at no cost since I have the Original CD of Windows 7 /64

2) Would yo do it if you were in my place?
