    Upgrading to an SSD

I have a hard drive with three partitions; Windows 7 Home Premium (Primary), Windows 10 Home (Logical), and Windows 10 Pro (Logical). I want to upgrade to an SSD; however, I do not want to just clone my old hard drive/partitions onto the SSD. I only want to move the two Windows 10 partitions, not the Windows 7. The desired end state would be the Windows 10 Pro partition as the Primary (boot drive) and the Windows 10 Home as the Logical. Is there an easy way to do this? I know I could just partition/reinstall everything onto the SSD, but I do not have that kind of time.
    Thanks for any assistance…

    :)

  3. Upgrading to an SSD - Can I still upgrade my windows 8 to windows 10?

Hi Rebecca. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 8 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

If you've already Upgraded to Windows 10 then the PC has permanent Digital License to reinstall Windows as often as you want and it will reactivate unless you change the motherboard which requires special steps:

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/...

But changing to an SSD will not matter so I'd create the bootable Windows 10 installation media to do the vastly superior Clean Install which compiles the best possible install of Windows which will stay that way as long as you stick with the tools and methods
given in this tutorial, and has zero reported problems from those who do so:
    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/wiki...

I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and let us know how it goes. I will keep working with you until it's resolved.

  4. Upgrading to an SSD

WELL, that's the kind of nightmare you create for yourself when you put more than one OS on a single hard drive.
I never do that!!! I might have several OS's on a single PC, but each OS gets its own hard drive. That way there's never any confusion about what OS goes where. The F12 boot menu is all I need to get to the OS I want to work on.
And, last but now least.... if one drive crashes, and they all will eventually, you don't loose everything.
It's so much better to be SAFE than Sorry.

To get one HD with One OS to an SSD, a simple CLONE does the trick.

    Good Luck!
