  1. Upgrading W10 1909 to 20H2 and DynamicUpdate downloads old appx and Fails!

    Hi,

While Upgrading W10 1909 to 20H2 using ConfigMgr Task Sequence and DynamicUpdate Enabled I get Following error in Setupact.log:

14:52:01, Error DISM DISM Appx Provider: PID=312 TID=1160 onecore\admin\appmodel\utilities\provisionhelper\msixprovisioningrequest.cpp874\AppxProvider.dll!00007FF9194EA7B4: caller: 00007FF9194EA1A3 ReturnHr1 tid488 800700B7 Cannot create a file when that file already exists.

Msg:[Failed while adding package Microsoft.LanguageExperiencePacket-EE_19038.0.1.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe since an equal or higher version of the package, Microsoft.LanguageExperiencePacket-EE_19041.13.30.0_neutral__8wekyb3d8bbwe, already exists]

    - CAppxManager::ResultLoggingCallback

Without "/DynamicUpdate Enable" everything runs smoothly.

Before trying to apply that appx its downloaded from microsoft its also logged in same log.
i think Upgrade process should not try to apply LXP whats older than whats already applied to upgrade media.

Full upgrade command line from smsts.log:

    Command line of Windows setup upgrade: '"C:\WINDOWS\ccmcache\1f\SETUP.EXE" /ImageIndex 2 /auto Upgrade /quiet /noreboot /postoobe "C:\WINDOWS\SMSTSPostUpgrade\SetupComplete.cmd" /postrollback "C:\WINDOWS\SMSTSPostUpgrade\SetupRollback.cmd" /postrollbackcontext system /installdrivers "C:\_SMSTaskSequence\Drivers" /DynamicUpdate Enable /ResizeRecoveryPartition Disable /DiagnosticPrompt disable /priority high /MigNEO disable'

    Any help much appreciated!

    :)

    Upgrade to 20H2 failed

The laptop was offered the feature upgrade to Win 10 20H2. It is still running 1903. It had failed 1909, 2004 with this error 0x80004005 - 0x1000A,The installation failed in the DOWNLEVEL phase with an error during PREPARE_FIRST_BOOT operation.

Since Microsoft does not like this laptop anymore I had done a chkdsk, a SFC / scannow and a disk error check from the properties tab. All errors fixed.

I stopped MS secutity, firewall and the Avast security for the upgrade.

Downloading and installing took some time and it looked as if the laptop was going through the motions. At the end it had just reverted to 1903 again.

What else can I do short of a complete reset?

    Upgrade from 1909 to 20H2

When upgrading you can install 1607 and upgrade to 20H2.
So upgrade from 1909 to 20H2 with the upgrade assistant.

If there is success then that will complete the thread.
If the upgrade fails then record the error message and code for troubleshooting.

How to disable DynamicUpdate when upgrading to Windows 10

I try to upgrade my machines to Windows 10 through Autoupgrade.

My Problem: I can't disable DynamicUpdates during Setup because the Commandline switch is not working.

    If i launch:

    setup.exe /Auto:Upgrade /Quiet /DynamicUpdate disabled

the answer i get is "The installation process was launched with an invalid commandline argument.

    Also if i try setup.exe /?

There is no dynamic updated listed.

Also there is no other argument to disable them.

So how to deaktivate these Dynamic Updates then?

    Technet says:

    /DynamicUpdate{enable | disable}

Specifies whether setup will perform Dynamic Update operations (search, download, and install updates). Example:

This setting is new for Windows 10.

Maybe so new they forgot it to build in...

So please tell me how to disable these updates during installation.

Installation takes 30 minutes more because of this...

Exepct for the time loss setup runs fine.
