Upon restart my computer changes resolution to 640x480. How do I fix it?

Hello! For about 5 months my computer has been doing this. It hasn't been an issue until recently where it now results in certain games crashing while it loads, or freezes. Oddly it only affects when I restart the computer or I open up Steam. This does not happen when I open any other application or do anything else on my computer. The problem comes in that I don't know what is causing it. If it is Windows or Steam. I looked at countless and videos and guides on what to do and nothing has worked. I reinstalled my graphics multiple times. Changed as many settings as I could. Though a lot of the

    Compatibility problem (640x480 resolution)

I made the mistake of changing a program(Hearthstone Card game) to run in 640x480 compatibility mode. How do I return it to normal Windows 10 mode? Unchecking 640x480 did not work. Deleting and reinstalling
the game didn't work. Restarting PC didn't work. Removing registry entries with the program's name didn't work.

Windows returns to normal resolution when exiting the program. My question is how to get the program cleared of compatibility options that
I shouldn't have clicked in the first place. Unclicking 640x480 won't work since it doesn't show as being clicked.

Can Compatibility change resolution to other than 640x480?

I have one program (jigsaws) that is simply too small at my normal resolution (1920x1068). Changing my resolution to 1260x768 works but then I lose the benefit of the higher resolution in my other apps. As far as I can see compatibility lets me change the resolution for this app-but only to 640x480 which is too low. Is there a way, whether in Compatibility or otherwise, to set a special resolution for just this program? So it'll change to that resolution when this program runs & change back when this program ends? Thanks.

    640x480 resolution problem

    Hi Jason,

This is Wil, one of the independent advisor, an expert with Windows 10 and a fellow Windows 10 user like you. I understand your concern about 640x480 resolution.

You would normally have a little window with a black box around it because basically that resolution can't be displayed fullscreen on the monitors that are in the market right now. May I ask why do you need to switch to 640x480 resolution.

I hope that you can reply back as quickly as possible so I can help you out further. Have a nice day.

    Thanks,

    Wilfred P.
