Hello windows 10 community, I hope you all doing fine. I have a problem with my WiFi on my HP laptop. So on 10/10/2020, I was playing video games around 12:30 am, I was in mid game, having fun playing. And suddenly, my game lagged for a moment, I thought i was just having a bad internet connection, but it turns out the problem is much bigger than this. The game kicked me out because I had no internet connection. I checked my phone and the WiFi suddenly turned off/ restarted by itself. After 5 minutes of waiting, the connection was back, but only on my phone! I searched for my WiFi in the WiFi settings but it did not show up at all. I can see other people WiFis but not mine. I even used another laptop, the WiFi name is not there and not showing up, but shows other people WiFis. I can connect to my phone and use the internet and everything. I did also a speed test to see if the internet is working on my phone. It works, but I am really confused. Why would it connect to my phone but not 2 laptops. Both laptops are from HP but different models and different windows system. I have Fios or Verizon internet, I have chatted with one of the tech support and they did everything they can do on their end but nothing happened. I have restarted my laptops today like 10 times today but still nothing happened. I uninstalled WiFi driver and restarted my laptops, nothing happened. Did some command prompts lines and nothing happened. I searched many YouTube video tutorials, none of them really helped me. I even reached to Microsoft and hp tech support, guess what? They could not help me! I am getting really frustrated right now not knowing what to do. I have updated my laptop and it is up to date. Yet, my WiFi name is not showing up on my laptops. Note that I am the admin/ account recipient of Verizon, no one has control to block my devices. I have done many things to fix this problem, but the issue still persists. Does anyone know how to fix this issue please! I need it to be fixed as soon as possible! I appreciate all your support, I hope someone knows how to fix this issue! Thank you!

Qualcomm atheros qca9565 no wifi!!! Urgent help needed.


After clean installation and installing all the proper drivers no matter what I do, I CANNOT TURN MY WIFI ON!!! Please I need urgent help! I just don't know what the problem is! I've tried the vpn solution, tried upgrading from windows 7 and 8.1 both. Nothing works. Absolutely no solution I could find! cannot turn the wifi on through my hp laptop network button which is f12 it just turns on airplane mode and off. Bluetooth is working. But for some reason the wifi is not turning on! I've upgraded everything through windows update and drivers! No luck! No matter how I try the wifi does not turn on! cannot turn it on by clicking the tray icon, neither from action center, neither from system settings and also disabling and renabling the adapter does not work! What should I do? I need urgent help!

 

Strange names showing in Network Profiles on AVG Firewall

Some strange network names have been showing in my AVG Network Profiles list, that are not listed on the "known network" list on my windows 10 PC:

DIRECT-MHDESKTOP-DVFUTVPmsGH

DIRECT-XgDESKTOP-DVFUTVPmsQJ

DIRECT-LDDESKTOP-DVFUTVPCRTH

(my PC name is DVFUTVP)

Some posts online seem to suggest they are something to do with "Direct Desktop Connection" although I have never used this to connect to anything, only to wifi networks (all others on the list recognised) or bluetooth devices

Does anybody know why these could be showing up / what they are?

 

How to connect to an existing wifi network?

As you suggested, I tried disabling the ethernet adapter and that caused wi-fi to connect, so the desktop wifi does work. Also, I accessed the router and changed the wireless network name (to wfCHS). Thanks!

However many problems are still unresolved:

My laptop behaves just as I want it to. Assuming the router has wifi turned on and the laptop has an ethernet connection, connection to the internet is by ethernet (no private network name), and the wi-fi connection is to my private network "wfCHS", but with no connection to the internet. (If I disconnect the ethernet cable, then wfCHS becomes connected to the internet and stays that way even if I reconnect the cable.) A directory listing shows both laptop and desktop under "Network". Great!

Things are rather different with the desktop. With Ethernet disabled, the desktop shows a wi-fi connection to the internet. Under Settings > Status it's called "wfCHS" but under Network Connections it's called wfCHS2. If I then re-enable the ethernet connection, the wifi connection stays enabled for a minute or two, then disconnects. Further, the ethernet connection is given the name wfCHS2 under both Status and Network Connections.

Why does the desktop give an (unwanted) name to the ethernet connection while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the desktop disconnect its wi-fi connection a minute or so after the ethernet connection is enabled, while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the desktop give two different names to the wifi connection, depending on whether it's viewed under Status or Network Connections, while the laptop doesn't?

Why does the laptop show the desktop under Network, while the desktop shows only itself?

Things are so convoluted that I'd be happy to start over. I've had the desktop "forget" the wi-fi connection as you suggested, then re-established it, but this hasn't helped. Can the ethernet connection also be "forgotten"?
