I live in a third-world country where power outages are common. That is why I have an electricity stabilizer for my computer. Two days ago, there was some work going on in the house and I had to move my computer. Since I was only supposed to move for a few hours so i can study peacefully, I did not bring my stabilizer. After using the computer for a few hours, the lights went out and the computer shut down because of it. When the lights came back, I turned on the computer without any issue. I live in a third-world country where power outages are common. That is why I have an electricity stabilizer for my computer. Two days ago, there was some work going on in the house and I had to move my computer. Since I was only supposed to move for a few hours so i can study peacefully, I did not bring my stabilizer. After using the computer for a few hours, the lights went out and the computer shut down because of it. When the lights came back, I turned on the computer without any issue. The next day (yesterday), I tried to turn on the computer again and my login ID was gone. (I have connected my Windows ID to my Microsoft ID, so my profile picture usually shows up.) This time it did not show up, which was weird. Then I entered the same password as before. It said that it could not sign me in to my account and that this was a temporary account. I tried to restart the computer a few times, but the same issue persisted. Today, I followed a guide on YouTube and I went into my regedit and went to the profile list. I deleted the temp accounts and removed the “.bak” extension and changed its path. After this, everything on my computer changed. My computer acts weird, the Photos app is not working, EVEN windows defender is not working (it showed an error when i tried to open it + Microsoft store it not opening either so now I cannot open any pictures or anything for that matter. Furthermore, all programs like Discord, Zoom, etc. are gone. My wallpaper is also changed. I do not know what to do. I have taken a backup of the user files of Desktop, Downloads, Videos, Pictures etc (as I was told in the YouTube video) and I saved them in Drive D and E. I have read that because of the power suddenly going out, my computer’s profile is apparently corrupted. Can anyone please help me? I need to study for my exams and this issue happened. Any help is deeply appreciated!

There maybe a couple of reasons behind this misbehavior such as a corrupted system file. However, we would like to be able to verify which process exactly is corrupted.

• When you install, does it give you any form of error message when it fails?
• What other processes doesn't go through on the said User account?

As per troubleshooting, you may refer to
Likhitha V's response on this thread. See if it applies to you. However,
just to give you a heads up. The steps are about creating a new user profile and deleting the current one. I suggest you back up your files so you may be able to transfer it. You can also find information about it on the same thread.

Based on the information that you have provided, yes you are correct that your windows might be corrupted. That being said only option is to reset your windows to do that you may follow this steps on this article below. Please make sure that you have backup your files before doing this.
