    I somehow got a virus that deactivated Windows. I ran "slmgr.vbs /dlv" but found nothing. Do I need to buy a new license? If I do, it might get taken away...

    It would be very unusual for a virus to deactivate Windows.

    Where did you get your Windows licence was that pre-installed on the PC or did you purchase a full retail Windows licence from Microsoft or from a 3rd party retailer, and if so, do you have the product key?

    If you run the slmgr.vbs /dlv command, what happens, does that not produce a dialog box, does it produce an error?

    On the activation page in the Settings app, run the Troubleshooter, please provide a screenshot of what that reports.

    Virus deactivated Windows 10

    So, I didn't change hardware, but my Windows pro OS license deactivated. And, I don't have the original key. Is there anything I can do? Other than buying another license? I'm afraid if I buy the license, the virus might just propagate itself right
    back on to the machine and deactivate again.
