Windows 10: Usability after Windows automatically reboots the PC, why is it so bad?

After Windows automatically reboots the PC e.g. at 4am it takes any open files in Word, Excel, Power point and stores as a new "autosaved" file. If subsequently I press "Save" the obvious option, it saves them to OneDrive, a totally different place and since I don't use OneDrive, there is a HUGE risk of getting versions mixed up. If I select "Save as" the folder shown is the wrong one, and then I have select "more options" and then "more options" again twice! in order to access the normal file explorer, and then navigate to the folder in which the original document was stored, which is

Try turning off automatic restart on system failure and see if it is giving a blue-screen before it reboots. That might at least give you an error message or code so you can start your troubleshooting from there. Otherwise it is just a shot in the dark. It could be bad RAM, bad HDD, bad ODD, a bad cable somewhere, PSU dying, motherboard dying, a software issue and the list goes on...

I don't think he ever said it reboots during the boot process. It just randomly reboots while the computer is running.

  Open the System Properties.

  On the Advanced tab, under the Startup and Recovery section click on the Settings button.

  Under the System failure section check
  the automatically restart checkbox.
  
• 
  Click OK to close the startup and system properties windows and save changes.
