Device: Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3 15ABR8RAM: 8GBUsable RAM: 5.84GBCPU: Ryzen 7 7730UWindows 11 64bitI have tried this article here: How To Fix Available Usable Memory Less Than Total Installed RAM but it did not work.I have nothing other than the window essentials running in the background and my storge is less than 15% full. I only use my laptop for school and work. This RAM + CPU issue is making my device lag a lot and operate much, much slower.

Usable RAM reported is much lower than available RAM

I upgraded my laptop to Windows 10 Pro. It recognizes my 8 GB of RAM but only shows 2.93 GB as usable. I went on line used the suggested msconfig to change the maximum memory in the advanced boot settings to 8192. it was set at 0. I also went into system
settings and turned off the automatic page filing size under the virtual memory settings. I save the settings and rebooted my computer by the changes to the maximum memory size did not take and were set back to 0. I've tried this several times but still only
get 2.93 GB of usable RAM of the 8 GB of available RAM reported. Any other suggestions on how to fix this issue would be appreciated

  3. 16GB RAM only 8GB usable on Windows 10 x64

have 16GB of RAM installed on my computer, but only 8GB is usable. I am running Windows 10 x64. I have tried the following steps to fix this issue, but they have not worked:

    1. I have updated the BIOS to the latest version.
    2. I have tried reseating the RAM modules.
    3. I have tried using different RAM modules.
    4. I have tried run-MSConfig
I am still not able to use all 16GB of RAM. Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Installed RAM (Memory) Usable Issue

    Hello neerav_d

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

The amount of usable RAM in a system can vary depending on various factors, including the operating system and hardware configurations. In your case, with 64GB of installed RAM on a Windows 10 Pro 64-bit system, the usable RAM should be close to the full 64GB.

However, there are a few factors that can affect the usable RAM:

    • One factor is the system's hardware architecture. For example, some older systems may have limitations that prevent the operating system from fully utilizing the entire installed RAM.
    • Another factor that can affect usable RAM is the specific version of the operating system. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit supports up to 2TB of RAM, so in theory, you should be able to utilize the full 64GB without any issues.
    • It's important to note that the operating system reserves a portion of the RAM for its own use. This includes resources required for the system to function efficiently, such as caching, system processes, and device drivers. The amount of reserved RAM can vary depending on the system's configuration and the applications running at any given time.
Keep in mind that even if the usable RAM is slightly less than the installed RAM, it's usually due to the operating system's allocation for its own processes and is not a cause for concern.

I hope the above explanation can help you understand more. If there is anything unclear, please feel free to reply.

    Best regards,
