Windows 10: usaeable ram less than installed ram

hi.

so i got this problem since a couple of months ago

i got an asus vivobook x505za powered with ryzen 3 2200u with vega 3 graphics

i got 6gb ddr4 2400mhz of ram but only 5gb of it is useable and the remaining 1gb is set as hardware reserved memory

i tried to fix it with the msconfig methode but it did not work

and also i got the latest bios and graphics and chipset drivers installed

so how could i solve the problem

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

To better assist you, please answer the questions below.

• What is the full specifications of your computer?
• Which type of RAM are you trying to install?
• Have you checked if the total RAM is detected in the BIOS?
• Have you tried installing just the 8 Gb RAM and see if the system detects it?
  

We suggest that you contact the computer manufacturer for information on how to enter the BIOS and how to set the default settings. Also, you can ask them if there is an available update for the BIOS.

To RAM or not to RAM...

Hey genesis what hardware have you bought, you might be able to save on the ram and step up the rest of the hardware a little...

Or you could go out on the town as suggested... *Big Grin
