Windows 10: USB 2.0 devices do not work in a USB 3 slot Win10 21H1

My desktop has both USB 2 and USB 3 ports. Recently I have noticed that my mouse receiver does not work when it is plugged into a USB 3 socket, If I plug it into a USB 2 socket it works fine. I have checked and even reinstalled the USB drivers, Any thoughts appreciated..

We understand your concern as you are having difficulties in connecting the USB stick on a 3.0 port. As you have mentioned that this issue is with the front slot, then what happens when you connect the USB stick on the back slot?



Also, we would like to know the make and model of the PC/motherboard for further investigation.



Meanwhile, you may refer the steps as suggested in this article: USB
Device not recognized” when you try to access a USB external hard drive (Ignore method 1 & 2) and also suggest you to update the USB device and Chipset driver from the PC/motherboard manufacturer website.

What has happened to my USB slots

I'm Stefano a Microsoft Independent Advisor, here to help you.

In order to solve your issue, I suggest you to unplug every USB device connected to the PC, then perform this procedure:

1. Press WINDOWS + X

2. Click on "Device Manager"

3. Click on "USB controller"

4. Right click on one element on the list

5. Click on "Uninstall device"

6. Repeat steps 4 and 5 for every USB controller listed

6. Click on "Detects Hardware change" (monitor icon)

Once finished, please follow this procedure:

1. Press WINDOWS + X

2. Click on "Device Manager"

3. Click on "View"

4. Click on "Show hidden device"

5. Click on "Disk unit"

6. Right click on a transparent device (hidden)

7. Click on "Uninstall Device"

8. Repeat step 6 and 7 for every transparent device (hidden)

9. Click on "Storage Volume"

10. Right click on a transparent device (hidden)

11. Click on "Uninstall Device"

Then reboot your device and plug in every USB device you need.

Please tell me if that works.

if go in my other PC USB 2 slots and insert USB stick this is read without problems either 3 or 2 USB stick

what to do to read USB sticks???? in the picture connected USB 3 to USB 3 hub to USB 3 slot in PC - again Not seen, well????

i think this is from time upgraded to Win 10 pro from win 7 pro
