Windows 10: USB 2.0 ports / Motherboard Headers no longer work, 3.0 and 3.1 work fine. Reset did not fix.

About a year ago, I used Autoruns to remove some old startup tasks from my computer. I unknowingly had selected a system service or something and deleted that along with the others. After I rebooted, my USB 2 ports no longer worked, with my 3.0 and 3.1 ports working just fine, including on my PCIe USB card that has both 2.0 and 3.0 ports.Since then I have:Updated my BIOSUpdated windows numerous timesUninstalled and installed different USB driversMade sure the ports were not set to turn off for power consumptionReset my pc keeping filesInstalled a different edition of Windows Home -> Stud

Update KB4015438 broke all my USB 2 ports on my motherboard. USB 3 are fine.

Hi all,

I have windows 10 set up to defer updates and I noticed that there was a update that needed a restart. After the restart my mouse wasn't working I then realised that all the 4 black USB 2 ports on the back of my motherboard were not working any more. The
6 blue USB 3 ports are fine thankfully.

The update that caused the issue was the following;

Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1607 for x64-based Systems (KB4015438)





I checked my Motherboard BIOS and all the ports are enabled as normal.

Looking in Device Manager I got the following error.





I tried updating the driver but that didn't help and also uninstalled and reinstalled the driver sadly that didn't help either.

For now I can move my mouse and TrackIR to the USB 3 ports and I have another 4 working USB ports on the front of my case 2x USB 3 and 2x USB 2.

Anyone else experience this?

At the time of the update I had the following things plugged into the USB ports that no longer work;

1. TrackIR 5

2. Thrusmaster T.16000M Joystick

3. Razer Mamba 2012 Mouse

4. Astro A50 Mix Amp

Hopefully uninstalling the update will fix the issue as it happened after the update.

Stupid Question - USB 2 Ports Into USB 3 Header?

So my old-ish case has 4 USB 2 ports in front. If I connected them to a USB 3 header on my motherboard, would they work? And if so, just at USB 2 speed right? I assume yes and yes, but I've only really worked with USB 2, and all I know is that all the plugs look the same, so I'm not familiar with these.

 

USB 3 Ports not working

Hi folks,
i was trying to copy some files from an external drive using the usb 3 port on my M/B but it doesnt work, i downloaded the drivers from the Manufacturers website but no luck either, am i missing an important step here? i havent checked the Bios yet
