Windows 10: USB 3.0 port labeled SS will not respond to GB adapter

Discus and support USB 3.0 port labeled SS will not respond to GB adapter in Windows 10 Drivers and Hardware to solve the problem; The USB 3.0 port labeled SS will not respond to GB adapter.     USB 3.0 port labeled SS will not respond to GB adapter


    The USB 3.0 port labeled SS will not respond to GB adapter. The usb port next to it labeld 2.0 (no SS) does recognize the adapter and it works properly. The SS labeled port works with other usb drives inserted. Could I have mistakenly swapped these around through the software by migrating by accident or something? I'm puzzled about this...

    USB only works with certain type of usb devices

    Hi pang, SS just stands for SuperSpeed, and is how some USB 3 ports are labeled

    Open Device Manager and expand the USB Section at the bottom. Do you see a USB 3.0 controller listed there?

    Does SS on my USB port indicate Super Speed.


    My Notebooks with USB 3 ports do indeed have SS with the USB symbol adjacent to the port in addition to the blue center.

    USB Port Oddities


    Ok, let's see it with pictures step-by-step. First right-click on the USB device and select Update driver software:

    Then select Browse my computer for driver software (LAST option) :

    The select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer (LAST option) :

    Then select the standard driver from the list and click next:

    Click next/OK as required to complete installation. Repeat the steps for all Intel USB devices. Finally click on each USB root device and press DEL to delete it, reply YES when asked. After deleting all USB root devices restart the computer.
