Windows 10: USB 3.0 Write speed fluctuates 0Kbps to 8Mbps

I can transfer files from My USB 3.0 devices to my system just fine with maximum speed. But when I try to copy something to my USB 3.0 Device, the write speed fluctuates very badly from 0Kbps to 10Mbps.

I've tried all online solutions (Driver update, Bios Update, Different port) but none of it seem to resolve this issue.

Note: USB 2 devices seems to work just fine on USB 3.0 port as well.

N97 GPS cannot get a fix..

Has anyone noticed speed fluctuating between X kph and zero? When I drive around with GMXT, the speed constantly fluctuates between current speed and zero. Does anyone have this issue with GMXT on their phone after Maps 3.0 update?

 

usb 3.0 pci express card overheating

Anyone have any experience with overheating usb ports on usb 3.0 pci express cards?

mine overheats during read/write operations. Initially during data transfer to a usb 3.0 thumb drive, the transfer speed is at max, then it overheats, and the transfer speed drops to usb 2.0 speeds or less or even completely stops.

Please help

 

Your USB 3 speeds will be as fast as the interface allows. That is, if you're using both a 2.0 and 3.0 device, the speeds will be 2.0. Likewise if you're using 3.0 devices, but using a 2.0 USB cable, your speeds with be 2.0 because of the cable.

If you want 3.0 speeds, make sure everything is 3.0, to include the cable. See my post here on recognizing USB 3.0 devices and cables.

Iam using Transcend 32GB usb 3.0 pendrive. Ive connected it to USB 3.0 port on my MOBO directly, For some reason the read speeds are good but when I try to copy any files to my pendrive, the speed drastically fluctuates. In the mean time, I tried using a USB 2.0 pendrive on a USB 3 port on my mother board (Just to verify if it's a port issue) but it worked just fine.

So far what I've figured out is that all USB 3.0 devices has this speed fluctuation problem while I try to write into it.

Can this be a hardware issue ? If yes, I can get the mother board (MSI gaming 5) replaced since it's still under warranty.

 

o be honest a lot of things, including PC activity, file size, and location can affect transfer speeds, and I've rarely gotten the "advertised" speed of any drive in a consistent manner.

That said, you might check task manager to see what else is running during the transfer times.
