Windows 10: USB A to USB C phone charger works, USB C straight to phone works, but USB C to USB C phone...

So odd.


If I run a USB A cable on one end out of my laptop to the USB C in on my phone stand/charger, then put the phone USB C onto the USB C male on the stand, I can charge and pass data.


If I run a USB C data cable out of the laptop and straight into the phone, it charges and passes data.


Yet, if I run that same cord from the USB C on the laptop to the USB C in on the charger/stand, and then put my phone on it, it doesn't work.


To use the phone charger/stand, which has a USB C in, I must use a USB A to USB C cable and come out an A port on my laptop. If I run a USB C to USB C cable from the C port on my laptop, it doesn't work -- even though that same cable and same port works perfectly if I bypass the charger/stand and go straight into the phone. And, again, it works if I come out the USB A port and use a cable that switches connection types.


So odd.
