Windows 10: USB adapter for wireless Xbox360 not recognized in devices

Hello everyone,So I have bought a wireless Xbox360 controller with the original USB adapter, to be used with my Win11 PC.Following the instructions here https://www.wikihow.com/Connect-a-Wireless-Xbox-360-Controller, I have managed to connect the controller and USB adapter. The light on the adapter remains steady for about 5 minutes, before blinking again. The problem is that the USB adapter is recognized nowhere in the device manager, not even as an unknown device. Only native HID devices, as well as my mouse, will show up. Consequently, it doesn't appear in Steam either. How to make sur

Have a xbox360 wireless controller adapter, in Dev Manager it showed as xbox360, but after a repair upgrade it now shows as unknown, despite numerous attempts to install the driver it remains unchanged

any ideas please ?

Xbox wireless adapter not recognized in device manager

Hi,

I suggest you follow the below instructions to resolve the issue.

1. Run the hardware troubleshooter to see if there are any hardware issues and automatic fix
   • Open command prompt with administrative privileges
   • Type msdt.exe -id DeviceDiagnostic and then press enter
   • On the Hardware troubleshooter wizard click Next
   • Restart PC if there are no issues found and verify
2. If the above has not fixed the issue then uninstall the unknown USB device by following the instructions below and install it again.
   
   • Go to your Device Manager.
   • Locate unknown USB device.
   • Right click on unknown USB deviceto bring up the Properties window.
   • Click on the Driver tab.
   • On the Driver tab, click the Uninstall button.
   • On the confirmation window, check Delete the driver software for this device.
   • Unplug the Xbox Wireless Adapter for Windows and reboot your Windows 10 device. Once the device is back on, plug in the adapter.
   • Verify now if the Xbox Wireless Adapter is recognized and drivers are installed or not

My Xbox360 controller is not recognized

When I plug in my Xbox360 controller, I get a message saying the USB device is not recognized. The Controller is listed under "Universal Serial Bus Controllers" as "Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" Under Properties it says

"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)

A request for the USB device descriptor failed." Is there a solution to this problem? My friends would probably kill me if I tried to play Dark Souls with a keyboard
