USB Audio devices cancelling each other out after new Windows 10 update

I have a FiiO E17/E09K DAC/Headphone amp for my headphones as my main audio output. I have a Blue Yeti microphone as my main audio input. I've had both of these devices working perfectly on my PC since 2013.

The problems started around November. I noticed in several games I was playing, the game would freeze for about 40 seconds every time I tried to activate my microphone. I grew tired of this pretty quickly and reformatted my computer. Everything seemed to be working at first for a week or so, but then the same problems started again. I troubleshot it and found that if I changed the USB port the mic was connected to, it would resolve the issue.

But then it got a whole lot worse, especially since yesterday. I've realized that the main audio input and output devices are cancelling each other out. If I had my USB headphones plugged in and working, the mic wouldn't work, and if I could re-plug the mic and unmute it /make it work, then the DAC stops working. If I plug in the DAC then the mic stops working etc.

I even tried recovering/restoring to an earlier time and it has not fixed it.

At first I thought this was just a USB issue, but it seems that I can't even plug in a typical analog microphone for the time being to make it work.

    Please help.

    :)

USB Audio devices cancelling each other out after new Windows 10 update

    Problem with audio devices

    Hi Marcello,

I appreciate you for trying some steps in order to get the issue resolved.

If you're connecting to an audio device using USB or HDMI, you might need to set that device as the default.

Open Start, enter Sound, select it from the list of results, and then, on the
Playback tab, select a device, then Set Default.

I would also suggest you to turn off Audio enhancements.

    • Go to Start, enter Sound, and select Sound Control Panel
      from the list of results.

    • On the Playback tab, right-click (or tap and hold) the
      Default Device and select Properties.

    • On the Enhancements tab, select the Disable all enhancements
check box and try to play your audio device.

    • If that doesn't work, select Cancel and, on the Playback
tab, select another default device (if you have one), select the Disable all enhancements check box, and try to play audio again. Do this for each default device.
Please revert if you face any issues with Audio.

    Thank you.
