  1. USB Audio Input Being Recognized as a Speaker

I'm using an Ion Tape Express USB input to convert cassettes to mp3. It worked great a few months ago. Now when I connect to usb the tape player is being recognized as a speaker so I can no longer use it with Audacity. I've done all the delete and reinstall options with the Intel Smart Sound Technology with no luck. In the past, two devices would show up in "Devices and Printers" but now only the usb PNP shows up as a speaker. I'm assuming a Windows update during the past few months is causing this but I don't know that for sure. This converter does not come with a driver of its own. An

Windows 10 and USB Audio codec input

Just purchased a USB turntable to record some old albums. Windows 10 recognizes the input, but only one app even recognizes there is any input at all. Audacity doesn't get any input at all. When I open Control Panel / Sound / Record Tab, the meter to
the right of Audio Codec shows activity.

    Any suggestions?

  3. USB only speakers!

Win 10 not recognizing my USB only speakers (NOT on list of Playback devices); I have a universal 3.5mm port that outputs audio just fine (headphones), I get video & audio output via HDMI port as primary, only laptop speakers play when primary HDMI not
used, do I have to have USB + 3.5mm speakers and USB only speakers won't work?

    Headphones recognized as Speakers...

    Hi Ahri,

Having your headphones recognized as speaker when plugged in at the back of your PC could be the reason why the audio is low. To help us isolate the problem, we suggest running first the audio troubleshooter from the link Fix
    sound problems
    .

In case the issue persists, then let's remap or retask your Realtek audio jack and see if it addresses the issue. To do that, follow the steps below:

    • Open the Realtek HD Audio Manager.
    • In the back panel, right click the option where your headphone is connected.
    • Choose the option Connector Retasking, then select Headphone.

Feel free to update us with the result so we can further assist you.

    Regards.
