Windows 10: USB audio interface stopped working after beeing unplugged once, error 0xE0000235

Morning everybody,


so I just set up my PC in a different room and suddenly my USB sound card isn't recognised anymore. Worked just fine for the last couple of years. My device manager isn't sure what has been connected either. Sometimes it's a USB audio device and sometimes it's an unknown device. Tried reinstalling drivers both from windows update and from the manufacturers website. It shows error code 0xE0000235. Keeps telling me that this driver is not intended for this platform.


This is the sound card I've got:

Startech Audio Adapter ICUSBAUDIO2D

running on Windows 10 Pro - up to date

Audacity Error Initializing Audio when I have USB audio interface on


@fireberd. I do have Stereo mix set as recording default. And this was working last week so I don't understand what changed.


@spapakons, I'm not sure I understand what you are suggesting. Could you re-phrase your statements.

Understood. If I have my USB audio interface connected and turned on, I get the error launching Audacity and there are no devices available to select.



If I turn of the audio interface I see the devices in Audacity.

 

USB Audio Codec Driver

After following all these steps, my usb audio device still does not work. In Settings > Connected devices it list USB Audio Codec Driver is unavailable.
