USB-C 3.1 port data transfer not working after Windows 11 upgrade

I recently upgraded my laptop to Windows 11 after holding off for a while. Since upgrading, one of my USB-C ports USB 3.1 doesn't work properly. It gives power to the connected device, but doesn't recognise the device when it's connected for example when an external SSD or phone is connected. My other USB-C USB 3.0 port works fine, and so does my USB-A port. Interestingly, if I leave the external device connected to the USB-C port and restart the laptop, the device is recognised on start-up. However if I remove it and try reconnect it, it's no longer recognised.I went to device manager,

  2. USB Ports Not Working

    Hi Patrick,

Thank you for keeping us updated.

    • Have you tried suggestions provided by Hamilton Apolinario?
If not, please re-install Windows 10 and check the status. If the issue still persists, I suggest you to get the hardware diagnostic done from the manufacturer.

Step 1: Download the Windows 10 ISO (using another computer so you can use USB ports to transfer files)

Refer to the article below and download Windows 10 ISO using Media Creation Tool.

    Download Windows 10

Step 2: Make a USB flash drive bootable

Refer to the article to download Windows USB/DVD Download Tool to transfer ISO to USB flash drive to make it bootable device.

    Windows USB/DVD Download Tool

Important: Ensure there is no data in USB flash drive before making it bootable device. If you have any data, back it up accordingly.

Disclaimer: Please keep a backup of your data in case of loss.

Hope this information is helpful. Please feel free to reply in case you face any other issues with Windows in future.

  3. USB Type A ports not working after updating to Windows 11

Hi, since updating to Windows 11 (Dell Latitude 3410) my USB Type A ports have stopped working (Power and Data transfer). My Type-C port works fine. I've tried literally every single thing suggested on the forums and many other websites (You name it I've tried it) to no avail. Driver updates, reinstalling, Windows Update, sfc /scannow, DISM, resetting device, Running Dell SupportAssist to update all drivers, Running Intel Driver and Support Assistant etc. etc. No drivers are detecting any problems.

Please can anyone advise me on the next steps or more possible solutions.
