Windows 10: usb c headphones adapter

considering there is a broken 3.5 mm jack stuck in the headphone port, I tried using my 3.5 mm jack to usb c to plug into my laptop at first it worked but now no sound comes through except for a strange tapping sound every second. help would be appreciated.

Dell Vosto 5490 (P116G) USB-C headphone only work with adapter

I have a usbc headphone and when I plug in the usbc port nothing happen. No sound no device unrecognized in device manager.. nothing.

If I use a USB to USBC-C adapter in the normal USB ports.. then works ok.

If I cascade two adapter (funny) USB-C to USB then USB to USB-C -> headphone.. works ok.

Any one now how this behaviors?
