  1. USB-C to HDMI no longer functional after update

Edition: Windows 11 Pro Version: 24H2 OS Build: 26100.3194Experience: Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.48.0 Our USB-C to HDMI connection has stopped working as of the latest Windows Update. Replacing the USB-C port does not fix the issue, and using the same USB-C port with another Mac computer does not have the same problem. This rules out a problem with the monitor or the USB-C port.We did not have the issue before the latest Windows Update.

    :)

  2. USB C to HDMI/VGA adapter no longer working

    1. What are the hardware specifications of the current USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter? If it is convenient, please try to share the hardware information, including the speed of the cable and the specifications that the adapter itself can support. COMSOL CMHV02
    2. Given that you have already tried to replace multiple USB-Cs, this may not be a problem with Firmware and Intel(R) UHD Graphics drivers. You can try to unplug these USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapters on other computers and observe whether the video output signal is good. I don't have another computer to try it on but this was working, as I used it for work then I took time off and it's now no longer working. so I purchased new ones because I thought it was due to an old one and none are working. so it's the slot, not the adapters.
    3. At the same time, please check the usage of your USB-C output port. If you use a USB-C that does not have a video output, it may cause problems. Please refer to the ASUS official description of the USBC of the device: [Notebook] How to determine the function of USB Type-C ? | Official Support | ASUS Global This originally worked so this can't be the case.
    4. In the meantime, try connecting an external monitor via the HDMI port on the device itself and see if the output is good. the monitor is fine - no issues with the monitor.
As this was previously working I believe it was due to some type of update. how do I go about rectifying this? I called ASUS and they told me they cant help me. lol

  3. USB C to HDMI/VGA adapter no longer working

    Hello, Patricia Campbell2

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

According to your current description, it seems that the USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter does not work well. In order to help you better, could you please provide some detailed information:

    1. What are the hardware specifications of the current USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapter? If it is convenient, please try to share the hardware information, including the speed of the cable and the specifications that the adapter itself can support.
    2. Given that you have already tried to replace multiple USB-Cs, this may not be a problem with Firmware and Intel(R) UHD Graphics drivers. You can try to unplug these USB-C to HDMI/VGA adapters on other computers and observe whether the video output signal is good.
    3. At the same time, please check the usage of your USB-C output port. If you use a USB-C that does not have a video output, it may cause problems. Please refer to the ASUS official description of the USBC of the device: [Notebook] How to determine the function of USB Type-C ? | Official Support | ASUS Global
    4. In the meantime, try connecting an external monitor via the HDMI port on the device itself and see if the output is good.
If other devices and the HDMI interface behave well, let's trace the cause back to the native Asus VivoBook X531FAX:

Some users from the ASUS community have reported that the firmware update from ASUS will cause the Type-C output port to fail to supply power, which requires additional special conditions to make it powered. If you have checked the above information, I also recommend that you go to Contact technical support on the ASUS official website and ask if the recent UEFI Firmware update has any changes to the Type-C power supply. If so, please try to roll back the version, or find a shortcut key to turn on the power supply.

The contact entry: Official Support | ASUS Global

USB-c to hdmi adapter doesn’t work

It should if you have USB-C, but even then these adapters are not that reliable - nowhere near as good as using an HDMI or Display Port cable.

Did you try the troubleshooting steps I gave you? This will let you know if it can be made to work and remain stable.

This is an interactive process. I give steps to perform, you do each one and then report back results until something works, so I know what to suggest next. If you need help performing any step, just ask back. But please do not skip any steps. We often find out the skipped step is the fix.
