Windows 10: USB-c to monitor causes a repeating notification sound

Hello,


I bought a new Lenovo yoga 7i. It is connected to a Dell monitor using a USB-c to hdmi cable. The image is good and in the display settings it seems to identify the model of the monitor correctly. The monitor is also listed properly under devices and printers -> Devices. However, there is a repeating notification noise that I don't know how to get rid of. I noticed that in devices and printers, there is a USB 2.0 BILLBOARD listed, and sometimes when the notification sound is played, another device appears under the name "Unknown USB Device Port Reset Failed" and disappears instantly.

This only happens when the monitor is connected.

Yeah, thats not a solution she is interested in......I've suggested that course of action. Thanks though.

Just to clarify, I feel that there MUST be a step, or series of steps to turn off JUST the wireless notification sound. Thats what Im driving @ here.

To assist you better, I suggest you to answer the below questions.

• When will the sound disable, when playing through main monitor or the extended monitor?
• Did you try enabling the sound from the sound drivers and check if it helps?
• Since from when are you facing this issue?

This issue causes because the monitor automatically takes the HDMI sound as the Default input. Disable and enable the speakers and check if it helps.

I suggest you to try the below steps and check if it helps.

• Right click on the volume control and then
  Properties,
• When you connect the HDMI it becomes the default output device, even though it has no speakers.
• You need to change this back to "Speakers" and set as default.

Notification sounds are missing!!!!

1. What is the make and model number of your computer?
   
2. Have you made any changes on your computer?
   

However, I suggest you to follow the below mentioned step:

1. Go to “Control panel”.
   
2. Select ‘Sound’.
   
3. Under sounds tab select ‘Program event’.
   
4. Under program event, select ‘Notification’.
   
5. Make sure you select ‘Notification’ sound for startup application and system notification.
