Windows 10: usb c to vga is not working and giving me prompt 'no singal'

I recently bought a usb hub but its not working in my Lenovo ideapad s340 and giving me prompt on my acer monitor screen 'no singal' . I tried the same hub with my another HP laptop and acer screen and it is working. I also tried the same hub with HP laptop and my tv with HDMI cable and it is working. and I remember I used a usb to vga adaptor 2 years before in same laptop and it was working . I think it's windows or some missing driver issue, please help.

Hi Lee, many thanks for your prompt response. You're obviously very technical, whereas I am not, sadly.

I am only trying to display on one external device. I have no need for multiple external displays, so I don't really want to go to the expense of a multi-output hub.

I also don't understand why, if my USB-C to VGA adapter doesn't work, you are suggesting a USB-C dock would?

Are you also suggesting that a HDMI to VGA adapter wouldn't work either?

Sorry to be a pain, but these issues fry my brain!

USB-C to VGA not working

My laptop (asus Vivobook 15) does not have a VGA outlet and my monitor only has VGA cable. I bought a USB-C mobile dock with both HDMI and VGA outlet, and the HDMI outlet works but the VGA does not detect any monitor. It's supposed to be plug and play
(no driver installation needed). What might be the issue?

Thank you! The product is a Kensington SD1600p mobile dock. I tried with the HDMI outlet on the mobile dock and same result, whereas when I borrowed an HDMI to VGA converter, it worked perfectly, so it might be an issue with the video output via USB-C
