  1. USB connected human presence sensors

Hi,I have an older Surface tablet and it does not seem to have a human presence sensor because I don't see any settings related to presence sensing.I want to add this capability to the computer for a project that I am working on. I have done a bunch of searching and can't seem to find any external USB connected human presence sensors available. Does anyone know if this type of device even exists? Thanks in advance! I'd rather buy something off the shelf than try to cobble something together and then write software to put the PC to sleep when a human is not present and wake it up when someone is

    :)

  2. Presence sensor settings missing in Settings

I have a new Lenovo Yoga 9i (Gen 8) which has presence sensors that are enabled by default. The problem is that Lenovo has removed the adjustments for the sensors from the Windows 11 Settings app. Instead you must use Lenovo Vantage to adjust the sensors. That doesn’t work well for two reasons.

    1. It seems that there are more options available in the standard Settings app than what Lenovo provides in their Vantage app.
    2. Vantage likes to serve up ad notifications in the middle of Zoom sessions for paid services from Lenovo. I would like to permanently disable Lenovo Vantage, if possible.

I have this problem on multiple Lenovo Yoga 9i (Gen 8) computers we recently purchased. Solutions such as clean install are not the point and not welcome. What I need is instructions on modifying the registry or a similar technique that will make the Settings app display the presence sensor settings. Thanks.

  3. Presence sensor settings missing in Settings

    Hello, BruceMorris.

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

Based on your description, it seems that you are dissatisfied with Lenovo Vantage.

You would like to adjust the presence sensor through the Windows settings.

In general, specific settings will appear in Windows Settings when you are using hardware that is supported by Microsoft or utilizes Windows APIs.

For example, most laptops have a webcam, but only some support Windows Hello facial recognition login.

For some devices, a piece of hardware may inherit multiple functions, or multiple functions may be concentrated in one type of hardware. Such hardware may not be very suitable or convenient to interface with Windows settings, which is why some manufacturers start to create software to act as an intermediary for easier interaction.

When multiple applications attempt to access a single device simultaneously, problems may arise, including conflicts that result in only one function working properly.

For issues with Lenovo Vantage, I suggest you feedback to the Lenovo community.

Based on my experience, Lenovo's presence sensing settings may not be something that can be made compatible with Windows settings through registry edits, and you should consult the notebook manufacturer for specifics.

Hope the above explanation can help you learn more.

If you have any other questions I can help you with, feel free to ask.

    Best regards.

    Way to disable proximity sensor?

Why does my Nokia Lumia's screen turn black when in a call? - Nokia FAQ

Your Nokia Lumia phone has a proximity sensor located on the upper part of the front side. When you are in a call the proximity sensor turns off the touch screen to prevent accidental presses. Any object cover the sensor may cause
    detection.

You can take the following steps to check the issue:

    • Make or receive a call with the phone.
    • Once the phone is in a call place your hand 1cm above the screen and display will turn off.
    • Remove your hand from above the proximity sensor area and display shall turn back on.
    • Repeat the test steps 1,2,3 for 3 times to verify the proximity sensor function.
