  1. USB Connection not Recognized as 3.0

I have a Dell XPS 15 9570 running Windows 10 and am attempting to use an Elgato HD60 S.

The Elgato requires a USB 3.0 connection to function properly. When I plug in the Elgato, the game capture software displays the message "Elgato HD60S requires a USB 3.0 connection to function properly." Similarly, when I check the device under Settings > Bluetooth and Other Devices, the message "Elgato HD60 S could run faster with a USB 3.0 connection" is displayed.

I have verified I have the necessary connections by double checking my specs and ports online, visually by finding the correct symbols by my ports, and by going into device management and finding my USB 3.1 drivers. Moreover, I have previously successfully used the Elgato both on my laptop and on another laptop, so I know it is not an issue with the hardware.

I assumed that since I have USB 3.x hardware, but it is not being recognized as such, it is an issue with the motherboard, BIOS, or USB drivers, however nothing I've tried has helped.

    Things I've Tried:

-Automatically searched for driver updates with Windows, Dell, and Intel automatic searches

-Manually updated all USB drivers, graphics card drivers, and BIOS

-Uninstalled and reinstalled updated USB drivers

-Reset all BIOS settings to default

    -Updating Elgato Firmware

    Evidence from USB Device Viewer:

I also downloaded windows USB Device Viewer to check where the connection was being routed, and sure enough the Elgato is shown connected to port 2 rather than port 18 the superspeed compatible port.

  2. Some USB Devices not recognized in Windows 10

Hi have Windows 10 Pro insider preview 10532 64bit Pro Intel i7 desktop PC.

I have multiple USB devices connected, USB 3 & 2. The USB HDD is working however my Samsung phone and kindle are no longer being recognized. The steps followed so far:

    • Uninstalled all USB devices in device manager including controllers
    • Flashed BIOS to latest version
    • Updated USB drivers for the devices from manufacturers sites
    • Tried new USB cables

Please note: both devices are recognized by my Windows 10 Lenovo laptop.

I really don't want to fresh install, please suggest any diagnostics I can try.

    Thanks
