  1. USB Drive on File Explorer and Windows Boot Manage option are fake

I had finished transferring a Windows installation from one SSD to another for the family's desktop PC. Every time I boot it up though, I get a Windows Boot Manager error screen saying Windows can't boot. I hit F9 to select "choose another OS" and two options are shown. Both are Windows 10 but one has a volume number under it while the other doesn't. I select the former and Windows boots like normal. Another thing I noticed is that a USB drive appears on File Explorer even though I don't have a USB drive plugged in. Plus, it's not giving me any description of it's data size and usage. If I click format or anything to mess with it, it says it's not plugged in. I can uninstall it, but after I reboot with the explained process before, it always reappears. It's currently assigned as H: I think these two issues are somehow related. I don't want to give it to my parents like this because they wouldn't know how to boot into Windows like this and it would be very annoying for everyone who turns it on. Windows version is 20H2, Build 19042.1165.

    :)

    Windows 10 Tweaks

Pressing “Windows+Pause Break” (it’s up there next to scroll lock) opens the “System” Window.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

    • Open a new Explorer window.
    • Click View in the ribbon.
    • Click Options.
    • Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
    • Click OK

    Help with USB Boot Image

I am trying to boot from my USB flash drive. I followed the instructions step for step that are in the article on this website. I downloaded the HP program and the USB Image zip file. I ran the HP flash program and pointed it to the folder where I unzipped the USB Image files to. I then copied all the files over to the USB memory stick as instructed. When I restart my computer and press F12 to go to the boot menu I have 3 options: SATA hard drive, CD-ROM drive, or USB Device. So I choose USB device and when it reads the USB memory stick all I get is the error "Non-system disk, replace and hit any key" Its like the USB memory is missing some system files or it doesnt have the master boot record or something. Somebody please HELP!!! I want to flash the bios in a new video card and I have to boot to DOS and I dont have a floppy drive and I have Win XP so a USB boot is probably the best option I have.

USB Drive on File Explorer and Windows Boot Manage option are fake

My USB Backup drive does not show in My Computer window.

    Hi Meran,

A few possible reason can cause your external drive to not show in File Explorer. To diagnose and fix this issue, we suggest that you check the Disk Management window. To open it, follow the steps below:

    • Right-click on the Start button.
    • Select Disk Management.
    • Alternatively, you can search diskmgmt.msc in Cortana.

Examine the list of drives in the Disk Management window and look for your external drive. Even if it doesn’t show up in File Explorer, it should appear here. If the drive appears, it may not be appearing in File Explorer because it needs to be assigned
a drive letter. To do this, right-click the partition on the drive in Disk Management and select
    Change Drive Letter and Paths.

If you don’t see the drive in the Disk Management window at all, we suggest that you try connecting the drive to a different USB port or use a different USB cable. We also recommend that you avoid using USB hubs, and connect the drive directly to your computer.

If you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to post a reply.
