Windows 10: USB driver issue?

I just purchased a 16 TB external SSD to archive videos and music from my Win 11 Pro laptop. It was described as USB 3.1 with backward compatibility, suitable for Windows O/S. Windows recognized it when I plugged it in, but then loses touch with it as soon as I try to do anything substantive with it. I tried a Macrium Reflect backup, and that claimed the destination drive didn't exist. I tried copying files using File Explorer, and it fails after partially copying. I looked at the drive in control panel and device manager, it they say they're missing a device driver. This is all happenin

• Press Windows key +X, select Control panel
• Change the view by option on the top right to Large icons
• Click on troubleshooting and click on the view all option on the left panel

Method 2.

Try updating the latest USB devices from the manufacturer's website and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to update the USB drivers:

a. Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.

b. Expand the USB driver.

c. Right-click on the USB and click on Update driver software.

d. Restart the computer and check.

Can you send us a screenshot of the error message? We suggest uninstalling and re-installing USB drivers and check if the issue persists. To do that, please follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Start button and select Device Manager.
  
• Expand Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Right-click on the first USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers, and then click on
  Uninstall to remove it.
• Repeat these steps for the entire USB controller under Universal Serial Bus controllers.
• Restart the computer. Windows will automatically scan for hardware changes and reinstall all the USB controllers that you uninstalled.
