Windows 10: USB drives no longer recognized by Win 11

Hi all - It seems that somewhen in the last week or so my primary desktop has chosen to no longer recognize USB storage devices. Any of them. They all work just dandy on my Win10 laptop, but my Win11 desktop has just spontaneously decided that it doesn't like USB drives. This has thrown a great big wrench in my work with my 3D printer. I can hear the chime that Windows recognizes a new USB device has been attached. I can see in Device Manager when it happens, it sees a "Generic Flash Disk USB Device" is now attached. No longer recognizes CD/DVD drive


Since receiving the Win 10 Home upgrade my computer no longer recognizes the DVD drive. It doesn't show in Device Manger or in the device list in This PC although it does spin up if you insert media into it. I've tried all the suggested remedies except messing with the registry and nothing works. This is one of several problems I've had with device drivers since the upgrade.

AMD FX-4130 3.80Ghz

I understand that you get an error, ‘USB device not recognized’ when connecting a USB drive. I’ll certainly assist you with the issue.



However, please let us know:

• May I know the update that was installed? To check go to
  Start >> Settings >> Update & Security >> Windows Update >> View update history.
  
• Does the issue occur with only one USB drive?
  
• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? Refer
  Which version of Windows operating system am I running?
  

I would suggest you to try plugging the USB to a different USB port and check if that helps. You can also try connecting the USB to a different computer and check.



Meanwhile, I would suggest you to refer the troubleshooting steps mentioned in the article
Error: “USB Device not recognized" when you try to access
a USB external hard drive except Method 1 & 2 and see if that makes any difference.

• Which build version of Windows 10 is installed on the computer? To check type
  winver in the search bar on the Taskbar and hit
  Enter.
  
• What is the make and model of the computer?

Error: “USB Device not recognized” except for Method 1 and 2.
