Windows 10: USB Enclosure Disconnecting Alot

Hello All

Toshiba 2TB, USB enclosure, connected to front available 2.0 port, worked fine for a long while, and then this evening started disconnecting, and wondering why that is happening?

Antivirus in use currently
Avast Free 19.1.2360

USB devices connected
1 USB 3.0 Flash drive
1 USB 3.0 External drive (doing copy of files from one drive to another, and from internal storage to the externals--aka updating the 2tb drive)
USB Keyboard--G213, G502 Mouse, Logitech G933 2.4 WIreless adapter, (would that have any effect)

Windows 10 Pro 1809 x64

HDD Enclosure keeps disconnecting.

My old ASUS laptop couldn't boot up Windows, so I took out the Hard Disk Drive and put it in an enclosure to access my data to my new laptop.

However, when I put my HDD in the enclosure, and connected it to my laptop with a USB 3.0 cable, my laptop detects it, but after a few seconds, like 15, it disconnects from my laptop, while the enclosure is still on.

When the 2 drives do pop up when I open up File Explorer (F: and G and either right click on them, try to open them, or even just looking at them, it either makes File Explorer unresponsive until HDD is disconnected, or green bar takes forever to load
and then disconnects eventually.

Enclosure is from SABRENT, and the Hard Disk Drive is an ST500LT012-1DG142 Seagate 500MB HDD.

Any fix?

 

Can't access drives in external USB 3 enclosures

Find someone who has a computer with Windows 10 to test the device. We cannot contribute anything other then keep repeating the same troubleshooting steps over and over.

I took a look at their forum, and there's practically no activity there. There was no mention of this issue there.

The thing is those drives all work fine if I connect the enclosures via esata. They come right up and work fine. It's only when I connect the enclosure using USB 3.0 that the drives aren't recognized. Per Icy Dock's suggestion in an email I received, I tried starting the enclosure with just 1 drive inside, and it still wasn't recognized over USB 3.0.

When I set up my new PC a few months ago, I installed all the latest drivers, direct from Gigabyte, my motherboard manufacturer. I'll also mention that I have an old USB 2.0 enclosure by another manufacturer and that is instantly recognized in my motherboard's USB 3.0 ports. So the only enclosures that don't work are the Icy Dock enclosures and only when connected via USB 3.0.
