USB Flash Drive became Read-Only on its own, can't change it back 11wllKVLvnTp9tphxSNEKXGEztCGcfy1Ak0aWYMOAHI.jpg

Hello reddit, I need some help

I was copying some files to a flash drive when all of a sudden it stopped and gave me a message saying that the drive was not there. I removed it and inserted it back in, right as the device was detected, Windows warned me that there was something wrong with the device. I ignored it (yes, I know I shouldn't have) and went to try to finish copying the files but I was surprised with a message saying the drive was Write Protected. I googled about it and found some things to try, but none of them worked. Using diskpart to check the attributes, another surprise. Read-Only was disabled but 'Current Read-Only State" was enabled, I used the command I found on a forum to try and clear the attributes but it, unfortunately, didn't work. I also tried a registry method I found, but it didn't work either.

Anyone knows how to solve this? Thanks in advance for the answers.

P.S. Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my native language.

P.S.2 I'm not an expert in tech, sorry if I committed any 'atrocities'

Here's a screenshot from Command Prompt

USB flash drive won't read, wants to format.

What file system did your friend use to format the USB flash drive?
Linux, MAC, Windows, etc.... if, he did the project on a different file format; the system may not think there is anything useful and wants to format it to make usable.
Or, the drive has gotten corrupted (like your friend pulled the drive before it was finished and the file table/partition info/etc. is corrupt).
Static could have gotten it, too.

    One of many recovery apps:
USB Flash Drive Data Recovery Software

Google has a sh*t load software to recovery and/or repair usb drives; but, be careful and always scan your downloads with a good a/v package.

This is a method to make a ntfs flash drive.

The trial and error step will be booting using Legacy BIOS...

The link did not use active so that is why it is a trial and error step.

USB Flash Drive became Read-Only on its own, can't change it back

help. USB drive isn't assigned a drive letter.

Any usb flash drive I plug into my computer isn't assigned a drive letter. The physical drive shows in the "safely remove hardware" but it doesnt show up in disk management. I have tried to populate the volume thru the safely remove hardware properties window and it does pop up in the list but it doesn't stay there. This isn't a format or assign a letter problem. It's more complicated then that. Maybe one of the services needed for usb drive management was disabled? Suggestions needed. btw external usb harddrives work fine.
