Windows 10: usb flash drive "is not a valid backup location "

trying to create sys image for new win10, attempt to write to a 64 gb ntfs formatted flash drive


formatted with diskpart and rufus, same error "not a valid backup location


this seems to be an ongoing problem based on all the comments. what is the resolution?


does MS discourage creating a local sys image so that you have to purchase storage space on the cloud? space req for sys image is ~41gb


I have created a sys image for all my pc's in the past. have done it with dvd's but now it would probably take 10 dvds to save all the file.


I do not use cloud storage, have a backup device that handles all of it.


seems simple enough, why does it not recognize the flash drive? I can write to the usb drive just fine.

How should I take an system image in a n USB??
